Robert beschildert papier en doek in donkere tonen. Dit is het basismateriaal voor zijn collages. Tijdens dit maakproces laat hij het toeval regeren en hierbij komt hij zijn Chinese achtergrond tegen, dat tot abstracte composities leidt. Het thema tijd is voor Robert belangrijk binnen zijn werk. De tijd om te creëren; de tijd om volledig op te gaan in wat er ontstaat en wil ontstaan; de cyclus van steeds weer opnieuw beginnen, afbreken, opbouwen, en dan - op precies het juiste moment - naar achteren kunnen stappen.

Robert paints paper and canvas in dark tones. This is thebasic material for his collages. During this creative process he lets chance rule and in doing so, he encounters his Chinese background, which leads to abstract compositions. The concept of time is one of the primary themes during Roberts creating process. Time to create; time to be completely absorbed by what arises; the cycle of starting again and again, breaking down, building back up and then - at just the right moment - step back.
